Regionals and the future

This past weekend the Trinity Men's and Women's Cross Country team competed in the NCAA DIII South/Southeast Regional Cross Country Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina. The Team and coaches were all exicted to compete on Saturday (November 14th,2009) Unfornately our rain reputation at every meet this season has continued to be prevelant. ALthough it was not raining two days before the race, it had rained profusely the previous week, and as we started running the course the day before the race, we found our ourselves covered in mud, water, and dirty clothes without any compenstation in return for our greviances. Dangerous as the course was just walking, let alone racing on it the next day. The men's team was determined to qualify for Nationals next weekend in Cleveland, Ohio. Now for the results, on the girls side winning the race and beating the course record was you know who the sexy and super fast and future teacher "Caitlan Masse" and on the men's side the guy all the girls go crazy for with that blonde hair and future professional artist "Bryant Wright" coming in 7th place overall. Both qualified for Nationals. Our guys team sadly came up short by less than ten points to Lynchburg, finished 3rd place as a team overall, we would have had to place in the top two as a team to all go to nationals. Representing the girls were,Caitlan Masse, Jenna Price, Jordan Hanson, Krissy Ford, Jasmine Martin, and Christina Hamme. For the guys it was Bryant Wright, Chass Armstrong, Adam Cribb, Robert Edmonds, Fransico "Pancho" Escobedo,Sal Perdomo, and Zach Brush. And our three male Cheerleaders on the sidelines helping collect times, places, and losing our voices were to cheer on the our team were , James Woolley, Eric Elliot, and Mark Greene. But we cannot forget to honor our wonderful coaches Head coach Jennifer Breuer and Assisant coach Erica Clausen who made the workouts, and made us wake up at 6am every Tuesday and THrusday. We could not have gotten this far, without them. It was an incredible season, and now we rest a week and prepare for a bountiful new track season of PR's and Negative splits. Yes, this has truly been an incredible Cross Country season and I love every member of this team so much, they are all great people, that I am privileged to be part of. God Bless.

SCAC Conference XC Championships

This past Saturday the Trinity Men and women’s cross country team ran in the annual SCAC (Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) conference XC (Cross Country) championship meet in Conyers. GA about 30 miles east of downtown Atlanta. The Men and women were in high spirits with many words of inspiration at the team meeting the night before at the hotel. The weather was well more of the same this whole, rain and more rain. But, this team is like no other. We endured the rain and a tough 5 mile race through a forest with short but steep hills and some soggy spots where our shoes got well very messy and many of us were very muddy all over our bodies after the race. Our main rivals were DePauw and Colorado College, which we knew were going to be tough to beat. The funny thing is that our "conference is actually tougher than our region" says Jennifer Breuer (head coach). Three of our guys and one girl received all-conference honors which were: Bryant Wright (2nd place); Chass Armstrong (7th place); Zach Brush (11th place) and Caitlin Masse (2nd place). There was some controversy at the end of the men's race though. Our number 7 guy was listed as our 4th guy which was not the case at all. So the race officials had to fix that and other runners. Although our men's team ended up not getting 1st, but 3rd second to Colorado College (1st) and DePauw (2nd), our coach said we were actually number 1 in our region!!! So in two weeks Trinity will be in Greensboro, North Carolina, hoping to capture the regional title, and advance to Nationals as a team. This is amazing group of individuals, that I am privileged to be a part of and love every day I get to be together with my team even if we have some differences. Our coaches, Jennifer Breuer and Erica Clausen, are the best any runner could ever ask for, and it would be hard to say if there was anyone better than them, well we can’t forget Brant Lutz, who was known for highly animated cheer at Bry last year at the DIII XC National Championships when he said, "You are the hunter, they are the hunted!"
